Community guidelines

TwinTalk puts two adults who haven't met on a live, translated video call. Everyone agrees to these few rules when they sign up, so a call with someone new is safe for both people. This page says what they are, what happens when someone breaks one, and how to report it.

Updated 2026-10-09

The rules

  1. Be 18 or older

TwinTalk is for adults. If someone tells you they're younger than 18, end the call and report it.

  2. Be yourself

Use your own name, face and photo. Don't pretend to be someone else, or lie about your age or where you're from.

  3. Be kind, even when you disagree

No insults, bullying or humiliation. When someone says no, or asks you to stop, stop.

  4. Nothing sexual

No sexual talk, requests or images, no asking someone to undress or show their body, and no flirting that continues after it isn't welcome.

  5. No hate

Don't attack or mock anyone for their nationality, race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sex, gender or sexuality. Talking about cultures is the point; putting people down for theirs is not.

  6. No threats or violence

Never threaten to hurt anyone, or try to scare someone by saying you know where they live.

  7. No scams, selling or asking for money

Don't ask for money, gift cards, crypto, bank or card details or passwords, and don't promote investments, products or services.

  8. Respect privacy

Don't record a call or take screenshots unless both of you say yes, and don't share someone's personal information.

What happens when someone breaks a rule

A live check on what's said

Captions are checked as you talk. If something clearly crosses the line, the person who said it sees a calm reminder of the rule, and the other person is told what was said and chooses: keep talking, end the call, or end it and report. Nothing ends a call on its own.

A person decides

Every report and every flag from the live check is read by a person at TwinTalk, with the last five minutes of the call's captions and chat. Software never pauses or closes an account by itself.

A warning, a pause, or a closed account

Depending on what happened and whether it happened before, the outcome is a warning, a pause of a few days (no calls, booking or appearing to others), or closing the account for good. A closed account's email, card and browser can't be used to come back.

You're told why

Whoever is warned, paused or closed gets an email in their language naming the rule. If you think we got it wrong, reply to that email and a person will look again.

How to report or block

  • In a call: tap the shield at the top of the screen. Choose what happened, add a note if you like, and end the call or keep talking.
  • After a call: at the end of the call's review, choose “Report or block”.
  • From a profile: “Report” and “Block” are under their details.
  • Blocking is silent and works both ways: any call between you ends, bookings are called off, and you won't see each other again anywhere on TwinTalk. They are never told who reported them.

If you or someone else is in danger, contact your local emergency services first. You can also write to contact@twintalk.app.
